Five Years Later

In March 2006, Rachel was Cricket’s Senior in the Spotlight. At that time, Rachel stated that her goal was to “work with Autistic and other special needs children in a school environment.” Now, 5 years later, Rachel is a busy and successful college graduate, doing exactly what she hoped to do. She graduated from Texas A&M on December 18, 2010, and just one day before graduation accepted a job offer from Richardson West Junior High School, in Dallas, as a special education reading teacher. Says Rachel: “I got very lucky and it was a busy 24 hours.” She recently became engaged to James, who she met her freshman year at A&M while planning events for disabled children. He works for Rayethon as a mechanical engineer and the couple will settle in Dallas. They plan to invite about 50 friends and family to join them on a cruise out of Galveston to celebrate their seaside wedding in Cozumel, in February of 2012. Wow, Rachel knew what she wanted and now she is living her dream. Congratulations Rachel! |

 Dear
Cricket,
I am a high school Senior and never ordered graduation announcements from my school when they were offered last fall. I did not care for the way they looked. I wanted something unique and different. Now graduation is only two months away and I don't know what to do. I still haven't found any announcements that I like.
Signed,
Waited Too Long
Dear Waited,
No worries. Cricket makes graduation announcements and invitations that are way cooler than anything you can order at school. Cricket incorporates the photos from your session and your own custom text to make an announcement that is completely unique. It is not too late! Cricket can have your announcements ready in about two weeks after your session. If you like to really procrastinate, you can send them out after graduation. Your family will still love to receive them, even in the middle of summer. So stop worrying and call Cricket to save the day!
Love,
Cricket
Cricket announcements are bigger and better.

Nikas
News
Sofia is finishing her Junior year at Churchill and just returned from a school trip to Costa Rica with her Environmental Systems class. They trekked through the rainforest, learning about ecosystems, counting turtle hatchlings on the beaches, and meeting native tribes who live without electricity, plumbing, or any modern conveniences. She continues to excel in viola and was a finalist in the San Antonio Symphony's Future Stars competition. She played in the Texas All-State Orchestra in February and has been accepted to study this summer in the Castleman Quartet Program in upstate New York. We are all waiting to know whether she will pursue a music education or choose another field of study, but it is an important decision and she is taking time to think it through.
Alex is looking forward to graduating from middle school and joining the much more permissive environment of high school, where he has signed up for the track team and orchestra as his electives. He already looks more like 16 than 14 and wants the privileges of being 16 to go along with those looks. Alex accompanied us on a spring break trip to Puerto Rico (we didn't want Sofia to have all the fun). Above, Alex is exploring one of San Juan’s two massive forts which protected the Spanish empire from invaders. It was beautiful, and we visited the rainforest as well. However, our experience was not rustic like Sofia's since we got to return to our posh hotel at the end of the day!

Heart Gallery
The Heart Gallery of San Antonio is a project which helps children who need adoptive homes. Many of these children are older, have special needs or are in family groups. Volunteer photographers, such as Cricket, create portraits of the children to exhibit in the community and online to help find homes for them. The number of children who need homes is staggering. For more information click here.
